Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected when someone visits Dodge County Criminal History, how that information is used, and when it may be shared. Using the site means accepting the practices stated here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Dodge County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be retained so we can respond and manage the communication. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the server may receive routine technical details about the visit:

  • Page-view times and the pages visited
  • Browser, version, device type, and operating system
  • The device's assigned IP address
  • Visit length for a page
  • A referring website, when one is supplied

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files saved on a device. They and analytics services help aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages receive visits and where a visit ends. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Routing a search request to the selected partner
  • Maintaining site availability and performance
  • Finding and correcting technical faults
  • Measuring which content visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Dodge County Criminal History does not compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It describes how to reach the Dodge County Sheriff, County and District Courts, Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division, and Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power the site's search boxes. Information submitted in a box is handled under that provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. Those terms are outside our control, so review them before entering a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Dodge County offices, Nebraska court portals, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link away, the destination's privacy policy governs. Review it before providing personal information.

Advertising partners may use their own systems to track activity across websites for targeted advertising. We do not operate those systems.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Information may be disclosed to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a visitor's query
  • Advertising networks serving site ads
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable standard practices are used to protect collected information. No Internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If information from a minor is identified, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Your Data Rights

Rights can vary with applicable law. Nebraska's Public Records Statutes, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 84-712 through 84-712.09, govern records held by public bodies, while § 29-3523 controls dissemination of specified Nebraska criminal-history information. Those laws do not make this private site a government custodian. A visitor may still ask to:

  • Obtain a copy of personal information we retain about that visitor
  • Correct inaccurate retained information
  • Request deletion where applicable
  • Opt out of certain processing where applicable

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. A new version becomes available on this page with its effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
